The watch is almost a reissue of the inaugural Speedmaster CK2915-1 from 1957, from its case size to its dial style to its innovative tachymeter-engraved steel bezel.
The tribute Omega Speedmaster sports a stainless steel case in 38.6 mm, complete with straight lugs. Take a close look at the stainless steel bezel and you’ll notice that Omega even included the French word “tachymètre” on the scale like the maiden model.
The case houses a dial based on the original “Broad Arrow” design, characterized by arrow-shaped center hands. The old-school applied cheap replica Omega logo and the Omega Speedmaster signature in the original font are included as well. Rather than contemporary sapphire, Hesalite crystal is used to protect the face of the watch naturally.
Even if Omega did keep the fundamental design components of the very first Speedmaster, they did add some necessary upgrades as well. First is the bracelet, which has nearly identical appearance to the vintage model, including the retro-style OMEGA logo on the clasp, but it is thicker and sturdier to match today’s expectations. Moreover, the watch is powered by modern manual-wound Caliber 1861 mechanical movement instead of the original Caliber 321, a 48-hour power reserve can be provided.
